TOURISM IN THE "EJE CAFETERO"

The "EJE CAFETERO" is a geographical region of Colombia, which includes the departments of Caldas, Risaralda and  Quindio. The capital cities of these three departments are Manizales, Pereira and Armenia respectively. The region is called "Eje Cafetero" because it is here, where the bulk of the coffee production is located in the mountainous area of Colombia.

The famous advertising icon Juan Valdez, represents the coffee farmers of this region.

wearing carriel, aguadeño hat and poncho, and accompanied by his trusty mule, this icon has become a triumph of marketing recognition. This region stands out for it's wide range of eco-tourism, adventure tourism and theme parks.
